As part of the Kultursommer, the Kunstverein Arnsberg and the Cultural Office of the City of Arnsberg are presenting the works of Eva Meyer-Keller this September. On September 3 and 4, her latest performance CERTAINLY UNCERTAIN will be premiered at the Kulturschmiede Arnsberg. Her exhibition OUT OF HANDS can also be seen at Lichthaus Arnsberg. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the performance-lecture CERTAINLY UNCERTAIN, the artist searches for new perspectives on the process of perception in the field of neuroscience. Is it an active or passive process? How can the brain know what we see? How is the difference between perception and experience defined? What changes result from existential crises and what possibilities are opened up by the experience of pain? What does it mean on a neuroscientific level to experience a state of distress? Characterized by a deliberate disregard for the boundaries between seriousness and nonsense, between private and scientific contexts, the performance makes use of the surplus of knowledge that coincidentally results from the process of artistic-scientific research. In the consistent doing-as-thinking, the gesture becomes choreography. The cosmos of CERTAINLY UNCERTAIN extends from the first single-celled organisms on this planet to complex nervous systems and the effects of these biological structures on the artist's immediate experience. CERTAINLY UNCERTAIN begins to lay out a performative narrative mosaic of fragile fragments at the surplus ends, unfinished stories and unanswered questions, only to immediately plunge the resulting image back into chaos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
