Lichthaus Arnsberg presents the installation \"60 seconds\" by Spanish artist Ignacio Uriarte.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Like a minute itself, Uriarte's work cannot be seen at first glance: It is discreetly installed on the grey floor of the Lichthaus. The sculpture consists of 60 black wristwatches linked together in a circle. The clocks are set to real time, but are each one second fast. Every full hour, a beep goes round the circle, jumping from one watch to the next.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The circle closes in one minute and offers the possibility of entering and experiencing this minute. As the clocks run with a one-second distortion, you could follow a selected second or step into the future. You could also quietly watch time slip away. Uriarte once again manages to challenge our perception of time. His circle forms a world of its own and shows us the natural cycle of time, which we tend to experience in a linear fashion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the timeless context of Wedinghausen Monastery and with a view of the stars from the Light House, the installation \"60 Seconds\" is a special event. The finissage of the exhibition will take place on Friday, 23 July 2010 at 20:30. The artist will be present.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
